Deadline and hearing tracking for California workers' comp
Amber keeps the dates that drive a workers’ comp case: QME strike and scheduling windows, hearings from the DWC calendar, depositions and the 5-year limit, counted the way the WCAB counts them. And when a carrier goes quiet, it follows up.
QME deadlines
For every panel, Amber tracks whose turn it is and when it runs out: each side’s strike window (with the 5 extra days for the side served by mail), when defense has missed its strike, scheduling the exam, and when the report is due.
- Status for every panel: awaiting strike, strike overdue, awaiting appointment, report pending
- Tells you the day defense misses its strike, so you can select the QME
- Report due dates counted from the exam
QME to-do list
One list of every open panel in the firm with a step waiting, overdue first, then due soon. Each row has the next step, its due date and a button to act on it.
- Overdue, due soon, then waiting
- This week’s hearings shown across the top
Hearing calendar from DWC
Every night Amber reads the public DWC district office hearing calendars and matches each hearing to your cases by ADJ number, so a newly set hearing shows up on the case without anyone looking it up.
- Matched by ADJ number
- Updated every night
- Shown on the case and on the hearings page
Claim status follow-ups
Being ghosted by an adjuster on whether a claim is accepted or denied? Amber follows up for you: a polite nudge, then a firmer one, then a formal demand that mentions a DOR. It stops the moment they reply.
- Sends from your email, so it reads as you
- Change the timing, tone or wording of any step before you approve it, to match how your firm does things
- Then asks for the status letter in writing (LC § 5402)
Deposition tracking
Amber picks up applicant and QME depositions from email and from notices in the file, and shows each one on the case: date and time, Zoom or in person, defense firm and interpreter.
- Scheduling, noticed, confirmed, completed, cancelled or continued
- Reminds you to send the LC § 5710 fee request a week after the deposition
Deadline calculator
Ask for a deadline in chat and Amber counts it the way the WCAB does, and shows its work: the first day excluded, the extra days for the method of service, and the roll past weekends and court holidays.
- +5 days for mail, fax or electronic service in California, +10 out of state, +20 abroad
- Weekends and California court holidays roll forward
5-year statute of limitations
Amber tracks the 5-year limit from the date of injury (Labor Code §§ 5410 and 5804) on every injury, and can list the cases coming up on it across the firm.
- Ask for every case reaching the limit in the next 90 days
